Jerry

Jerry, also called Jeremie, born in June 2019, was actually not planned at all. However, when Kalle’s brother and companion Gizmo died and Kalle was eating alarmingly little and was withdrawing more and more, I had to act. So I went to the shelter at the beginning of January 2020 and actually wanted to take an adult male cat between 2 and 5 years old, who should of course get along with other cats. They didn’t have one, only one, admittedly very pretty red and white male cat, who unfortunately didn’t want to share his territory with other cats at all. So I was led into the “youth room” and straight to my doom.

There were about 15 little cats between 4 and 8 months old running around me, of which one in particular caught my eye: Jerry, the biggest of them all, immediately greeted me with a trembling, raised tail and stayed by my side. He was always right at the front when we played. So it was clear: Jerry had to come with me.

But as the rule at the shelter is that young cats only go in pairs, I still had to decide on a partner. The decision was quickly taken away from me, because a little black something kept catching my eye: Nati. She played along discreetly but cheerfully and was the only completely black cat in the group. So Nati was also chosen as the new member of the family. But now back to Jerry, as Nati has her own page:

Jerry can best be described as a Maine Coon who got lost in the body of a common or garden cat. He is a permanently happy, water-loving clown, extremely playful, very affectionate and sociable, very docile and very greedy (he is actually always hungry, at feeding time he regularly behaves as if he hadn’t had anything for days). In addition, he is totally human friendly, is happy about every visitor and sometimes suckles your fingers off while cuddling. He is very curious to crawl into the smallest corners and gaps to investigate them and often shows me where I should finally vacuum. Apparently he also likes to bathe, because since I started the mini pond in the yard, Mr Jerry can often be found in it, happily splashing around up to his belly in the water.
