Gizmo

Gizmo

3.6.2011 - 18.12.2019

Gizmo came to me at the end of 2015 because he allegedly did not get along with Kalle, his brother. The two often fought for unknown reasons, the assumption was that they have built two different territories. One went out more often, the other did not.

Gizmo was at times quite difficult in dealing with the other cats. While he was cuddly towards me on the one hand but also distant, he fluctuated between fear and “I’m the boss” with the cats. Every creature with more than two legs was literally stared down, which the others of course did not let sit on them for long. With Louise even a long-lasting enmity developed. While four of my tigers clarified the conditions and the ranking relatively fast, she let herself be undercut by him. Best he got along with my FIV tomcat Findus. While he always kept the others at a distance, you soon saw the two only in the double pack.

When I had to put Findus down at the beginning of 2018 because he just couldn’t take it anymore due to the secondary diseases of his FIV, Gizmo’s behavior changed. He became calmer, approached the other cats, even wrapped Louise around his paw and became very clingy towards me.

When I got Kalle at the beginning of June, I was very worried at first. What if the two of them would fight here in the same way?

What happened? The two of them met each other, grumbled briefly at each other and have since then literally stuck to each other. The two were thickest buddies and Gizmo was much more balanced since then.

Unfortunately, Gizmo developed a large intestinal tumor completely unnoticed, which in the end enclosed large parts of his intestine, so that I unfortunately had to let him go on 18.12.2019 after an emergency surgery.
